How Can IA Students Control Their Eating Habits By Managing Stress

The Problem

many overweight people are overweight way because they eat when they are anxious. this is an unhealthy relationship with food, as it leads to obesity and complications from being overwieght.

people eat food to relax and feel good, because the fats, carbohydrates and sugars in many popular snacks provide a boost of "good feelings". 

the stress hormone is called cortisol, high levels of cortisol can create cravings for salty and sweet foods.in the past, this allowed people to stock up in times of scarce food, but nowadays, the availability of food has led to an increasing obesity rate

Find a Balance

Find a balance between school, friends, and sleep.  This will help reduce your stress because you will not be too focused on one aspect of your life but rather you will think about all parts of it. 

 

Time Management

This is a big one for IA kids. Spending too much time on facebook and the internet while procrastinating can really increase one's stress level when work has to be done. Spending too much time with friends on the weekend will also increase your stress level when work has to be done.

 

Set Goals

With set goals for each week, you will be able to have a clear and focused mind that will reduce stress levels dramatically.  Think positive.  Always believe you can complete your goals, because you can!  Also, when goals are set, time management becomes easier.  The result is more free time, and more time with friends.

Find a Hobby

Find a hobby that helps cure your stress.  It can be anything, from listening to music to playing with your dog. Take out a few minutes every few hours to just relax, and your stress level will decrease before you know it.  Also, things like exercising and playing sports helps clear the mind for doing homework.  But be careful on how sports apply to your time management, and see if you can fit it in to your schedule without stress.
